Throwing Objects and Creatures

Throwing Objects

When throwing a weapon further than its listed thrown weapon range, or throwing an improvised weapon which is your size or larger in combat requires a Strength(Worldshaper) check.

  • The DC for this check is 10, and failing causes you to drop the object but otherwise suffer no adverse effects. Success on the check increases the range at which you can throw the object by 10 feet, with an additional 10 feet range made with disadvantage. Further success on the check is measured in increments of 5, increasing the range at which you can throw it normally by 10 feet each time, with an additional disadvantage range equal to the additional normal range.
  • Throwing an oversized object takes a DC of 15 for this check instead, and only has a normal range of 15 feet. The range you can throw the object increases by 5 feet for every 5 you roll on your check above the DC.

Throwing Creatures

When throwing a creature, you may treat the creature as an improvised weapon for the purposes of the throwing objects rules, but an unwilling creature cannot be thrown further than your normal range for the throwing object check.

  • A creature must be grappled before it can be thrown.
  • When a creature is thrown this way, it must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or receive damage equal to 1d6 bludgeoning per 10 feet the creature was thrown, and fall prone. The thrown creature may instead choose to make a DC 15 Acrobatics check in place of the Dexterity saving throw for the same effect.
  • Falling distance for a creature which has been thrown only begins to count from the initial height the creature was thrown from.
  • If the creature you are throwing is willing, you may throw them carefully, giving them an automatic success on the Dexterity save against throwing damage. You cannot throw a creature softly if you are throwing the creature beyond your normal throwing range.
