Tar Strike

Tar Strike

1st level Conjuration

Casting Time: 1 action

Range: 90 feet

Components: VSM (a small chunk of dried tar)

Duration: 1 round

A viscous black ichor is fired from your hands or mouth to a point you choose within range, leaving a puddle in a 10 foot square. Each creature in the puddle at the moment of impact must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 2d4 bludgeoning damage and their movement speed is halved until the end of their next turn. On a successful save, a creature takes half of that damage and does not have their movement halved. The puddle persists until the beginning of your next turn, turning the affected area into difficult terrain.

At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d4 for each slot level above 1st. If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the area of the puddle increases to a 15 foot square. If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the area of the puddle increases to a 20 foot square. If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, the area of the puddle increases to a 30 foot square.
